Hello! Im Carlie – West Australian girl with a new addiction to blogging as a form of creative expression, and as a way to record kitchen creations too often forgotten in the past! Even greater than my passion for food is making good food from practically nothing, when the fridge may as well be completely empty, as is the purse! Eating healthy, enjoying a variety of tasty stuff, and having friends over to share that with (and lots of good wine!) is what I love, this can be done no matter how broke!

Having recently enrolled in full time postgraduate study, my income will soon be dramatically reduced, which will simplify life once again to the basics of student living! A return to a more frugal way of living and eating! Which for me – last time studying- provided a level of satisfaction unlike the obsessive over consumption I get sucked into when marching to work in the city everyday in $150 heels, drinking $6 coffee, drowning the stress in $14 glasses of wine after work.

In the student days of surviving off nothing, many weeks with only $20 or $30 in my purse for eating, drinking, entertainment and bus travel, I discovered delicous dishes are possible with a creative combination of pretty much anything in the pantry and some loose change. Each meal I write about lists in bold if any purchase was needed (to compliment my existing kitchen essentials- see ‘The freezer the kitchen cupboard and the balcony.’) Very often no extra pennies need to be spent!

If a few other people round the world can share the same satisfaction and gain some inspiration from my recipies and ideas- my purpose will be met! Thanks so much for reading and following! I love to receive comments and feedback. Bon appetit!!
